iPhone Duo: The New Name for Apple's Foldable Phone with a Lower Price Tag

As Apple gears up for its highly anticipated launch event, a last-minute rumor from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has revealed exciting updates about the company's next big release. Contrary to earlier speculations that it would be called the iPhone Ultra, Apple's foldable phone will be named the iPhone Duo and is expected to come at a more affordable price than previously estimated.

The iPhone Duo will feature a base storage option of 256GB and will be available in sleek white and dark blue colors. Under the hood, it will be powered by the advanced A20 Pro chip and feature a new in-house C2 modem. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the dual 48MP cameras on the rear and a 12MP camera designed specifically for videoconferencing. Additionally, the phone will boast a magnetic hinge, and for creative users, it will support the Apple Pencil.

The launch price for the iPhone Duo is set at $2,000, which is a notable $200 drop from earlier predictions. However, those looking for maximum storage will see prices approach $3,000.

Alongside the iPhone Duo, Apple will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. These models will mirror their predecessors in design but will switch to a newly introduced "burgundy red" colorway, replacing the previous orange. Notably, the Pro Max variant will feature a variable aperture main camera and both models will be powered by the same powerful A20 Pro chip.

Improvements include longer battery life and upgraded vapor chambers to minimize overheating risks. The Dynamic Island feature will now allow toggling between three live tasks simultaneously, compared to the previous two. However, both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will see a price increase of $100 compared to their predecessors.

Gurman's report also hints at new developments regarding the upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. A ceramic option is expected for the Series 12, along with fresh color selections across all models. Notably, the Ultra 4 is poised to deliver improved battery performance.

Apple's new Health app for iOS will now be accompanied by a new Readiness app that merges features from established wellness devices like Oura and Whoop. Moreover, a privacy-focused enhancement will summarize daily activities without recording or storing conversation details.

While new AirPods with integrated cameras won't debut alongside these devices due to delays until next year, the AirPods 5 are confirmed to launch today, promising significant enhancements in noise cancellation technology.
