Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 & Fold8 Ultra Debut, Key Highlights from Week 30

In a thrilling announcement, Samsung has revealed its 2026 foldable smartphone lineup featuring the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Z Fold8 Ultra. With distinct styles aiming to cater to different user needs, the Fold8 is designed for casual media consumption while the Fold8 Ultra takes a more productivity-oriented approach with its taller frame, improved cameras, and enhanced battery life. Both devices harness the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with pre-orders opening now and units ready for global purchase starting August 7. Pricing commences at €1,999/$1,899.99 for the Fold8 and €2,200/$2,099.99 for the Fold8 Ultra.

Alongside its foldable offerings, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, boasting a slimmer design without compromising on battery capacity—now featuring an 800mAh battery. The Galaxy Watch9 was also launched in two sizes, equipped with notable upgrades including a brighter display and the new Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, enhancing health tracking capabilities. Pre-orders are available with sales starting August 7, while the Classic variant will take a hiatus this year.

In addition, HMD has launched the Nokia 123 Shield, a resilient feature phone designed for durability rather than smart functionalities. This device boasts IP68 certification, a 2.4-inch display, a long-lasting 2,000mAh removable battery, and essential features like a bright flashlight and FM radio. Priced at €49, the Nokia 123 Shield is set to hit select markets by late July.

The anticipated iQOO 16T is reportedly being tested with either the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 chipset. Designed with gaming capabilities in mind, the phone will also incorporate a flat 2K Samsung display and a built-in cooling fan, but its release may be pushed until next year following the recent launch of the iQOO 15T.

The vivo X300 E is gearing up for its July 27 launch in China, confirmed to feature a massive 7,200mAh battery, a Zeiss-branded triple-camera setup with a periscope lens, and available in multiple color options. While full specifications are still under wraps, early leaks hint at a 6.59-inch AMOLED display housing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and 90W fast charging capability. Pre-orders are currently open in China.
