Recent rumors have reignited speculation that Apple will name its first foldable smartphone the iPhone Ultra. This new information hints that Apple's embrace of the 'Ultra' branding will extend beyond just the foldable device.
The foldable smartphone will simply be known as iPhone Ultra, rather than iPhone 18 Ultra, similar to the iPhone Air not being referred to as iPhone 17 Air. This naming strategy provides Apple with greater flexibility, allowing for the introduction of new iPhone Ultra models on a different timeline than the standard iPhone lineup.
Apple is reportedly striving to launch the Ultra model concurrently with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, although the foldable device may be released a few weeks later. All three devices are expected to be unveiled during the same September event.

In addition to the iPhone Ultra, Apple is also anticipated to introduce the MacBook Ultra, which will feature an OLED touchscreen—marking a significant first for MacBook models. This new MacBook is expected to come with a premium price tag, surpassing that of the already high-priced MacBook Pro. Apple's Ultra devices are generally associated with elevated costs, as seen with the Apple Watch Ultra compared to its non-Ultra counterparts.
The launch of the MacBook Ultra is now rumored for the first half of 2027, despite initial plans for a late 2023 release. This delay is attributed to RAM supply issues. The upcoming laptop is expected to offer an entirely new feature set compared to existing model lines, although further details remain unclear.
Another addition to Apple's Ultra lineup could be the foldable iPad Ultra, which is reportedly a priority for the company’s next CEO, John Ternus. Unsurprisingly, it is expected to be the most expensive iPad to date.
