During its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled the forthcoming iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Both operating systems are currently available in preview for developers, with an open beta set to launch next month, prior to their public release this fall.
The standout feature for both iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 is the much-anticipated Siri AI, an AI chatbot that is deeply integrated into the systems and comes with its own dedicated app. Additionally, Apple has introduced a range of new AI functionalities under the banner of "next-gen Apple Intelligence".
Furthermore, users can look forward to design enhancements for Liquid Glass, including a new slider that allows for adjustable transparency. Apple promises a more uniform refraction and improved contrast in the UI, while app icons will boast sharper details.

App launches are now up to 30% faster, with new photos loading in your library up to 70% quicker, and AirDrop transfers seeing improvements of up to 80%. Network transitions between Wi-Fi and cellular data will also be smoother, thanks to a newly optimized CPU scheduler designed for enhanced performance.
The Mail app introduces a revamped search ranking system that prioritizes the most relevant results. In addition, VoiceOver offers new capabilities for better understanding the environment, featuring richer image descriptions, integration with the Action button, automatic synced subtitles for videos, and the ability to translate existing captions in various languages.
iCloud Shared Albums now allow friends and family using Android and Windows to join and contribute photos, with support for full-resolution sharing. The Maps app enhances its Flyover mode, and GymKit is now available for iPhone and AirPods Pro 3, enabling connectivity to compatible gym equipment.

iPadOS 27 introduces the ability to create a slideshow from any collection of photos and videos, offering customizable options for duration, transition style, and music. Users can even save their slideshows as videos in their library. Notifications for missed messages now sync more quickly and reliably, while users can add and edit calendar events simply by describing them. Lastly, file browsing and transfers from an iPad to an external drive can occur up to five times faster.
