Google Photos Launches AI Enhance Feature for All Users

Google is actively enhancing its editing capabilities in Google Photos. Following the introduction of a quick facial touch-up feature, a new and straightforward "AI Enhance" button is now available. This button is located alongside the existing Enhance and Dynamic options within the Auto tab of the image editor.

Google Photos AI Enhance is now live for all users

We tested the feature, which effectively restores highlights and shadows, addresses issues related to poor lighting, and slightly enhances colors. However, it does not offer groundbreaking results, as similar functionalities are already available in competing AI enhancement tools. Nevertheless, the subtle improvements can be beneficial, especially in photography, and we welcome the addition of another editing tool. Notably, the AI Enhance feature is now available globally for all Android users and currently comes at no cost.

It's worth mentioning that Google states, "output varies by device," suggesting that some processing occurs on the device itself. However, while we attempted to use the feature fully offline, it did not function, indicating that it is not entirely device-independent.
