Meizu has made an impressive return to the global smartphone market, successfully entering 30 countries within its first year under the ownership of Dreamsmart Group. Originally focused on smartphones, the company had previously shifted its attention to electric vehicles. Now, with renewed vigor in its smartphone division, Meizu is poised for further growth.
In a recent discussion, Mr. Gu Binbin, executive director of Dreamsmart Group and head of overseas operations, highlighted the achievements of Meizu since its strategic pivot back to mobile devices. The company has ambitious plans for expansion, particularly in Southeast Asia, and will later target Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America.

The group has provided significant investment for the development, production, and distribution of Meizu smartphones. Initially, smartphones will be available online in new markets, while the company seeks partnerships with brick-and-mortar retailers to broaden accessibility.
Mr. Gu expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with automaker Geely, as the marketing of vehicles and smartphones will be synchronized in select regions. This strategy is expected to pave the way for increased market penetration.

Historically, Meizu produced a wide range of smartphones across various price points, with current offerings in China spanning from $100 to $700. However, this breadth of range has yet to be fully replicated in international markets.
Mr. Gu explained that the initial international strategy targets midrange devices, with plans to eventually introduce a wider array of products as the brand grows. Consumers looking forward to innovative devices might get a glimpse of what’s to come with the teased arrival of the Meizu 22 at MWC 2025, set for launch in April.
