In a groundbreaking collaboration, LG Corp. has teamed up with Nvidia to enhance their expertise in artificial intelligence and robotics. This partnership aims to push the boundaries of AI technology, enabling the creation of innovative robots and advanced hardware for autonomous vehicles.
Recently, LG's Chairman and CEO Kwang Mo Koo visited Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, where he signed a memorandum of understanding with Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang. This agreement emphasizes the companies' goal of leveraging AI capabilities to revolutionize various industries.

One of the most exciting developments from this partnership is LG's plan to unveil a humanoid robot by the first quarter of 2027. This advanced, bipedal robot will utilize Nvidia's Jetson Thor for on-board computing and the Isaac GR00T open reasoning framework, showcasing the potential of collaboration in robotics.

In addition to futuristic robotics, LG is also introducing CLOiD, a wheeled robot intended for deployment in its washing machine manufacturing line in Tennessee later this year. The company envisions CLOiD as a versatile robot with applications in factories, commercial settings, and eventually, homes.
Furthering its ambitions, LG aims to establish a reference AI data center by the first half of 2027, based on Nvidia's Vera Rubin technology. This initiative will precede the construction of an “LG AI Factory” in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, scheduled for completion by mid-2028. This facility is projected to deliver an impressive 80 MW of computational power while providing tailored AI solutions for robots and businesses.
As part of the "One LG" strategy, the AI Factory will leverage components from various LG subsidiaries, including LG Energy Solution and LG Electronics, to create comprehensive AI solutions.
Nvidia Drive Hyperion
In the realm of automotive technology, LG plans to design the next generation of AI-Defined Vehicles, incorporating Nvidia’s Drive Hyperion into its in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. This development aims to provide global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with integrated self-driving and in-cabin AI capabilities.
Amidst these developments, it’s worth noting that LG's competitor, Samsung, recently launched a Robotics eXperience division focused on humanoid robots and factory automation solutions, reinforcing the competitive landscape in robotics technology.
Kwang Mo Koo expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “As our discussions have moved fast, our tasks and goals in AI Factory and Physical AI have become clear. We will accelerate the spread of AI by building industry-leading references.”
Jensen Huang highlighted the significance of this partnership, saying, “The defining opportunity of physical AI is to give every machine the ability to understand the real world, reason, and act safely alongside people — reshaping everyday life from the home and factory floor to the road. Building on years of collaboration, LG and NVIDIA are combining LG's leadership in product engineering and manufacturing with NVIDIA technology to accelerate the next era of robots, AI factories, and autonomous vehicles.”
