Jeep Compass 4xe Conquers Frozen Swedish Trails in Final "Master the Impossible" Episode

Stellantis has released the closing chapter of its "Master the Impossible" video series, sending the new Jeep Compass 4xe into the snowbound wilderness of Arjeplog, Sweden. The finale puts the plug-in hybrid SUV to the test on deep snow and ice-covered tracks, highlighting just how capable the 4xe configuration is when conditions turn hostile.

A big part of the Compass 4xe's composure on low-grip surfaces comes from its dual-motor setup. The front axle is driven by a 157-kW electric motor, while a 132-kW unit powers the rear. A dedicated electronic management system constantly balances the two, fine-tuning power delivery in real time as the terrain changes.

Working alongside the motors is the Snow mode offered through Jeep's Selec-Terrain system. Once engaged, it recalibrates the transmission, throttle response and the entire 4x4 setup to keep wheel slip in check and preserve forward momentum on slippery ground.

Selec-Terrain is Jeep's proprietary drive-mode technology, giving drivers five settings to match weather and surface conditions: Auto, Sport, Sand and Mud, Snow and 4WD Lock. The "Master the Impossible" series was built around these very modes, with each episode dropping the Compass into extreme environments to demonstrate what they can do.

In Snow mode, the system intentionally limits output to roughly 80% of the vehicle's maximum power, prioritizing smooth, controlled progress over outright speed. Together with precisely calibrated traction control and ESP, plus an all-wheel-drive system that remains permanently engaged, the Compass 4xe delivers the stability and slip management needed for serious winter off-roading.
