In a move to enhance user experience and provide greater flexibility, Google has announced an update to its Gemini AI platform, allowing users to remove visible watermarks from images, videos, and music generated with its tools. This new feature addresses concerns from users who found the previous watermarking system less appealing compared to other AI content generation platforms.
The Nano Banana image generator from Google has gained popularity for its quality outputs, yet the visible watermark in the bottom right corner caused some users to hesitate. With this latest update from Google, users now have the freedom to choose whether to display these watermarks.
A new setting will soon be accessible within the Gemini and Flow applications, and it will also be implemented in the AI mode of Google Search shortly.
Importantly, the option to remove visible watermarks is not limited to images. Users will also have the ability to eliminate watermarks from videos created with Gemini Omni and songs produced with Lyria. There is a notable exception, however, for regions where legal regulations necessitate the presence of watermarks.
It’s crucial to note that while visible watermarks can now be optional, invisible watermarks like SynthID and C2PA metadata will continue to be embedded. This means users can still inquire whether an image was AI-generated, and Gemini will provide accurate information in response.
