In a bold move to refresh its visual identity, Meta has unveiled a new wordmark for Instagram, marking the first significant change in over ten years. The updated design maintains familiar elements while introducing a contemporary font and styling, now prominently displayed at the top of the Instagram mobile application.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, shared the exciting news through posts on both Instagram and Threads, highlighting that the previous wordmark had stood the test of time for a decade and was due for a much-needed update.

Mosseri describes the revamped wordmark as “cleaner and more modern.” With an aim to encapsulate the essence of Instagram's innovative community, the Design at Instagram page has elaborated on the creative process behind the updated wordmark and the broader brand system.
The design team undertook an extensive journey, exploring hundreds of iterations before finalizing the new wordmark. The result is intended to celebrate the unique creativity found within Instagram's vibrant community.
