Google has officially launched the latest addition to its smartwatch lineup, the Pixel Watch 5, during its recent Made by Google event. Maintaining the same sophisticated design as its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 5 boasts significant enhancements in health tracking capabilities and integrates cutting-edge Gemini Intelligence, a feature that aims to provide users with proactive assistance tailored to their needs.
This versatile smartwatch comes in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, with options for both Wi-Fi-only and LTE connectivity, ensuring that users can stay connected regardless of their preferences.
Like its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 5 features a sleek round AMOLED display, with an impressive peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits for clear visibility in various lighting conditions.
Powered by the Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2 chipset, the Pixel Watch 5 brings a substantial upgrade in storage capacity, now offering 64GB, a welcome increase from the previous model’s 32GB.
The Pixel Watch 5 further improves upon battery life with larger capacities: a 332mAh battery for the 41mm model and a 465mAh battery for the 45mm variant, compared to 325mAh and 455mAh in the prior version, the Pixel Watch 4.
Equipped with Wear OS 7, the watch features Gemini Intelligence as a built-in personal assistant, enhancing the user experience with proactive insights and suggestions.
Health tracking is at the forefront of the Pixel Watch 5, offering what Google claims is the most accurate sleep tracking available in the Pixel line. Additional health features include pulse detection, SpO2 monitoring, ECG capabilities, skin temperature tracking, and connectivity options including Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and UWB.
Fitness tracking is supported through built-in GPS, while users can enjoy peace of mind with the watch's IP68 and 5ATM dust and water resistance ratings.
For aesthetics, the 41mm model is available in Matte Black, Polished Silver, Champagne Gold, and Satin Pyrite finishes, while the 45mm variant comes in all except Champagne Gold. Users can also choose from a variety of bands, including a special edition band designed by Stephen Curry.
The pricing for the Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399 (€419) for the 41mm Wi-Fi-only model, with the LTE version priced at $499 (€519). The 45mm version begins at $429 (€449) for Wi-Fi-only, while the LTE option is available for $529 (€549).
