Google Introduces the Pixel 11 Pro Series and the New Pixel 11 Pro Fold with AI Innovations

Google has officially launched its highly anticipated Pixel 11 Pro series, featuring the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, alongside the innovative Pixel 11 Pro Fold. These models come packed with cutting-edge technology, including the all-new HiLight feature, enhanced camera capabilities, and the latest Tensor G6 chipset. Let’s dive into what these new devices have to offer.

Can notification LEDs make a comeback in the era of always-on displays? Google thinks so with the introduction of the HiLight feature, located beside the rear camera lenses. When the phone is placed face-down, HiLight activates to notify you of calls from preferred contacts and lights up during conversations powered by Gemini, Google's advanced AI.

HiLight: A Modern Notification LED Powered by AI

Speaking of AI, Google is unveiling a more powerful version named Gemini Intelligence, which is designed to run on mobile devices, starting with the Pixel 11 series. This enhanced AI experience is made possible by the new Tensor G6 chipset, the first smartphone processor manufactured by TSMC using 2nm technology, marking a significant milestone for Google following its split from Samsung.

Google Pixel 11 Pro

Among the improvements, the Pixel 11 Pro now focuses on battery efficiency, addressing a common critique of previous models. The device supports faster 45W wired charging while being equipped with 12GB of RAM in its base configuration, advancing to 16GB in higher storage options (512GB and 1TB). The Pro models start at 256GB, which ensures users benefit from the higher speed UFS 3.1 storage.

When it comes to imaging, these Pro models shine with superior camera systems. Both the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL feature a remarkable set of cameras, including a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide angle camera. The selfie experience is equally impressive with a 42MP front camera.

Additionally, the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold joins the series, showcasing the HiLight LED as well. While its camera specs somewhat trail those of its Pro counterparts—boasting a 48MP main sensor, a 10.8MP 5x telephoto lens, and a 10.5MP ultra-wide—the foldable version is equally innovative, fitting Gemini Intelligence and leveraging the same advanced Tensor G6 chip with 16GB of RAM.

Packing an expanded cover screen size of 6.5 inches and maintaining an 8.0-inch inner display, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold also promises durability with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. However, it has seen a slight decrease in battery capacity compared to its predecessor, now at 4,806mAh but promises the same 24-hour endurance.

Color Options and Availability

The new Pro series models come in an array of colors including Canyon, Olive, Fog, and Obsidian, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold offers Olive and Obsidian. Pre-orders for all three devices begin today, with official sales set to commence on August 20. For pricing specifics, see this post.
