Commodore Callback 8020 Now Available for Pre-Order at a Reduced Price

Source: Date:

Commodore has recently announced that the Callback 8020 flip phone, initially priced at $499, is now available for pre-order at a reduced price of $399. This represents a 20% discount before the official launch.

The lower price is partly attributed to the use of "eco-validated" RAM and storage, which means these components are remanufactured and recycled. For those who prefer brand-new parts, an additional $50 will bring the total cost to $449.

The Callback 8020 is available in several colors: Basic Beige, SX Silver, ProtoPET White, as well as premium Founders Edition and Starlight Edition. The Founders Edition is priced starting at $640 due to its unique 24K gold-plated "C=" button. Currently, the estimated shipping timeframe is between October and November; however, as this is a new company that has yet to deliver any products, there may be uncertainty regarding these timelines.

Key features of the Callback 8020 include a 3.25-inch internal display with a resolution of 480x640, a 1.77-inch external screen, a MediaTek Helio G81 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable storage. The phone also offers connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and LTE, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a removable 1,550 mAh battery. Furthermore, this device restricts the use of social media apps, browsers, work apps, and email applications at the system level, with the company assuring that it will not sell user data.
