OnePlus 15 Joins the Ranks of AirDrop-Compatible Android Devices

In an exciting development, the OnePlus 15 has become the latest Android smartphone to support AirDrop, allowing seamless file sharing between Android and iPhone users. This much-anticipated upgrade follows similar enhancements made to other devices like the Pixel 10 and Galaxy S26, marking a significant step forward in cross-platform connectivity.

OnePlus 15 Now Supports AirDrop

If you’ve ever found yourself frustrated trying to share files with iPhone users, you’re not alone. Many have resorted to cumbersome methods, such as sending files via WhatsApp, using slow Bluetooth connections, or uploading files to cloud services like Google Drive. Fortunately, the OnePlus 15 now supports Apple’s AirDrop, making it much easier to share files directly with iPhones. This feature was confirmed by various users on the OnePlus community forums.

How to Use AirDrop on OnePlus 15

The process of sending and receiving files between the OnePlus 15 and iPhone is straightforward. To send an image from your OnePlus device to an iPhone, ensure AirDrop is enabled on the iPhone and set to "Everyone for 10 Minutes." Then, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Quick Share app on your OnePlus 15 and hit the Send button.
  2. Look for the iPhone name under the "Send to nearby devices" section.
  3. Select the file you want to transfer, then tap on the iPhone's name to begin the transfer.

Transferring files in the opposite direction is just as easy. On the iPhone, select the image to share, tap the Share button, choose AirDrop, and select your OnePlus 15 from the available devices list.

Previous Devices with AirDrop Capability

The AirDrop compatibility feature was originally introduced in late 2025 for Google's Pixel 10 series. It has since expanded to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 8a, with the notable exceptions of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which currently do not support this functionality. The new Galaxy S26 series also comes with built-in support for AirDrop, and previous models like the Galaxy S25 have received this enhancement as well.

The Need for Universal File Sharing Options

This feature should ideally be available on all Android devices, rather than being limited to certain models. While it remains unclear whether older models like the OnePlus 13 will receive this update, there is a workaround announced at the recent Google I/O event. Android users can generate a QR code via the Quick Share app that iPhone users can scan to receive files, utilizing cloud transfer options.
