A new listing on the Wireless Power Consortium's (WPC) website has unveiled an upgraded wireless charging protocol for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series, which includes the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.

Samsung is upgrading the Galaxy S26 series wireless charging, but skimps on the magnets again

The documentation indicates that all three models will support the Qi 2.2.1 wireless charging standard, facilitating speeds of 20W or more. This aligns with previous rumors suggesting that the Galaxy S26 Ultra would feature 25W wireless charging support.

However, there is a downside. These devices only comply with the Base Power Profile (BPP) rather than the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP). As a result, the Galaxy S26 series will not be equipped with magnets, limiting their compatibility with Qi2 accessories designed for magnetic attachment. Users will need to utilize compatible cases for such functionality.

This news may disappoint those anticipating the Galaxy S26 lineup, especially as magnetic wireless charging has become an increasingly desired feature in the premium smartphone market.
