Microsoft is keen for users to transition to Windows 11, but many remain loyal to Windows 10. In response, the company launched the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates program last year for users logged in with a Microsoft account.
This program was originally set to conclude on October 13, 2026. However, Microsoft has now quietly extended the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates program by another year, pushing the end date to October 12, 2027.
For those who prefer not to upgrade to Windows 11, this extension provides one additional year of security updates for Windows 10. Whether Microsoft will grant a third extension remains to be seen.
