Oppo Launches Enco Air5s: A New Era for Semi-In-Ear Buds

Source: Date:

Oppo has officially launched the Enco Air5s, marking its entry into the semi-in-ear buds category. Unlike traditional in-ear models, the Air5s feature a plastic design without rubber ear tips, offering enhanced comfort and a lighter feel, albeit with less sound isolation. For those who prefer a conventional fit, the new Oppo Enco Air5 is also available.

Weighing in at just 3.9g per bud, the Enco Air5s come equipped with a 40.5mAh battery, providing up to 9 hours of listening time without Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) engaged, and 4.5 hours with ANC. When paired with the charging case, users can enjoy a total listening time of 48 hours without ANC and 25 hours with ANC. The battery can withstand 1,000 charging cycles certified by TÜV Rheinland.

While the looser fit of the Air5s enhances comfort, it does permit more ambient noise. To counter this, Oppo has integrated a Real-time Adaptive Noise Cancellation feature that adjusts to various factors including how the buds are worn, surrounding noise levels, and the shape of the ear canal. This system operates at an impressive 800kHz sampling rate.

Additionally, the buds incorporate a Tailored Voice-Cancelling System aimed at further reducing the sound of nearby conversations, providing an enhanced audio experience beyond standard ANC capabilities.

The Enco Air5s feature 12mm dynamic drivers with a frequency response range of 20Hz to 20kHz. Users can utilize a 10-band custom equalizer via the HeyMelody app to fine-tune their sound preferences.

The earbuds utilize Bluetooth 6.0 technology with Dual Connection capabilities. Users can control volume via slide gestures, access digital assistants, or launch Spotify directly from the buds. Furthermore, AI Translate offers real-time dubbing functionality. The earbuds are rated IP55, making them resistant to sweat.

The Oppo Enco Air5, on the other hand, showcases a more traditional design with rubber ear tips that provide a better seal and superior passive noise isolation, though at the cost of some comfort.

With ANC activated, the Air5 reduces noise levels by 52dB at frequencies up to 5,000Hz. Each bud weighs slightly more at 4.3g and houses a 62mAh battery, allowing for 13 hours of playback without ANC and 6.5 hours with ANC. The total listening time with the charging case reaches 54 hours without ANC and 27 hours with ANC. The Air5's charging case has a 530mAh battery, similar to the Air5s.

Like the Air5s, the Enco Air5s also include 12mm drivers (20Hz-20kHz) and are rated IP55. They support multi-point connectivity through Bluetooth 6.1 and feature low-latency mode with a mere 47ms delay on the buds and a total of 94ms throughout the audio chain. The HeyMelody app provides a 10-band equalizer, as well as Oppo Alive Audio, their exclusive spatial audio technology.
