Google has officially launched Personal Intelligence for its Gemini platform. This opt-in feature securely connects data from applications such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Search, and Google Photos, empowering Gemini to enhance its interactions with users. The rollout will occur over the next week for eligible Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States, functioning seamlessly across web, Android, and iOS platforms.

U.S. users can check availability by accessing the Gemini app or website, navigating to Settings > Personal Intelligence. Here, users can select which applications they wish to connect with Gemini.
The core capability of Personal Intelligence lies in its ability to retrieve detailed information from personal sources, such as emails and photos, to provide tailored responses to your inquiries. According to Google, it utilizes text, images, and videos to deliver "uniquely tailored answers".
Upon enabling Personal Intelligence, Gemini will access your data to address specific requests and execute tasks on your behalf. Importantly, because this information is securely stored within Google, there is no need to transmit sensitive data to third parties for a personalized experience.
For those seeking a more private interaction, temporary chats can be initiated with Gemini that do not involve personalization. The platform aims to avoid making presumptive judgments about sensitive data like health details, although it is capable of discussing such topics upon request.
Google assures users that Gemini will not be directly trained on individual Gmail inboxes or Google Photos libraries. Training will instead focus on limited information, such as specific prompts within Gemini and the subsequent responses, to enhance the model's functionality over time.
