MediaTek has officially launched its flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500s, as a follow-up to the original Dimensity 9500 introduced in September last year. Additionally, the mid-range Dimensity 8500 chipset has been unveiled.
Similar to the Dimensity 9500, the octa-core 9500s utilizes an ‘All Big Core’ architecture and is built on a 3nm manufacturing process.
MediaTek Dimensity 9500s

The Dimensity 9500s features a powerful Arm Cortex-X925 Ultra core operating at 3.73GHz, alongside three Cortex-X4 premium cores and four Cortex-A720 performance cores. For graphics, the SoC is equipped with an Immortalis-G925 GPU that facilitates advanced ray tracing, adaptive game technology 3.0, and frame technology 3.0. It also includes a state-of-the-art NPU designed to support ‘generative reasoning and multi-modal models’.
The MediaTek Imagiq image processor allows for real-time motion tracking at up to 30fps and supports 8K 60fps video recording with Dolby Vision HDR and enhanced noise reduction capabilities. The chipset is compatible with camera sensors up to 320MP and supports WQHD+ displays with refresh rates of up to 180Hz.
Additionally, the 9500s supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4 storage. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, dual SIM dual active 5G, GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo, NavIC, QZSS, Bluetooth 5.4, and MediaTek's UltraSave 4.0 power-saving technology.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500

The Dimensity 8500 also employs an All Big Core CPU design but is fabricated using a more efficient 4nm process. It consists of eight Cortex-A725 cores that can clock up to 3.4GHz. The chipset features a Mali-G720 GPU, promising up to a 25% performance boost and 20% lower power consumption compared to its predecessor.
This chipset supports LPDDR5X 4-channel RAM and UFS 4 storage, featuring a MediaTek 8th-gen NPU (880) capable of handling various large language and image generation models.
In terms of connectivity, it includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, the same GPS satellite support as the Dimensity 9500s, dual SIM dual active 5G, and MediaTek's UltraSave 3.0+ power-saving technology.
In terms of imaging capabilities, the 8500 supports camera sensors up to 320MP, 4K video recording at 60fps, and can drive displays with WQHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz.
