In a significant update to its product lifecycle, Apple has officially categorized the iPhone X, the company's 10th anniversary smartphone, as an obsolete product. This transition comes nearly nine years after its initial release. Alongside the iPhone X, Apple has also added the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro to this list.
Once an item is designated as obsolete, it becomes ineligible for hardware service, and authorized repair centers will no longer have access to replacement parts necessary for repairs.
Typically, products are included on the obsolete list more than seven years after Apple ceases their sales. However, some Mac devices may qualify for battery service for up to ten years from their last sale date, contingent on the availability of parts.
The iPhone X recently concluded its software support with the release of iOS 16.7.16, while the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro reached its software end with macOS 15.7.7. To view Apple’s complete list of obsolete devices, click here.
