Nothing Phone (4b) Pre-Order Launched: Galaxy A57 and Realme 16 Pro+ Compete for Attention

Source: Date:

Earlier this week, Nothing introduced the Nothing Phone (4b), marking the debut of its 'b' series. While this mid-range phone offers competitive features, the Nothing Phone (4a) remains the superior option.

The Nothing Phone (4b) features a 6.77-inch 1080p+ OLED display, powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset and a 5,200mAh battery with 33W charging for Europe (India will have a variant with a larger 6,000mAh battery). It includes a 50MP main camera with a small 1/2.76-inch sensor along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera—unlike the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which included a telephoto lens, though its successor, the CMF Phone 3 Pro, was canceled. The (4b) is currently available for pre-order, with shipments beginning next week.

However, for just €13 more, users can upgrade to 4 additional GB of faster LPDDR5X RAM compared to the LPDDR4X found in the (4b). The (4a) also benefits from superior storage speeds, offering UFS 3.1 versus UFS 2.2 in the (4b). Additionally, the (4a) features the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, a sharper 6.78-inch OLED display (1224p+ vs. 1080p+), a larger main camera sensor (1/1.57 inches), and a 50MP 3.5x periscope lens, coinciding with its marginally smaller 5,080mAh battery.

Aside from Nothing, consumers can consider the Samsung Galaxy A57, which is priced similarly to the Phone (4b). The Galaxy A57 comes with twice the operating system updates (6 years versus 3 years) and features a premium 6.9mm aluminum frame (compared to the Phone (4b)'s 8.6mm plastic frame), with an IP68 rating as opposed to IP64. Although the A57 has a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery, it is notably lighter at 179g compared to the 210g of the Phone (4b).

The Motorola Edge 70 shares a similar price point. With a sleek 6.0mm aluminum frame and weighing just 159g, it is both thinner and lighter than the Galaxy A57, without sacrificing much battery life (4,800mAh). It stands out with its wireless charging capability (15W) alongside 68W wired charging. The Edge 70 is equipped with the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset as the Realme, featuring a 50MP main camera (1/1.56 inches) and a 120° ultra-wide lens.
