Android's New Automatic Backup to PC Feature Excludes Samsung Devices

Google is developing a cloud-free automatic backup feature for Windows PCs that will allow Android users to back up their data via Wi-Fi when both devices are connected to the same network. A recent version of the Google Play Services app reveals a hidden information page about this upcoming feature.

Android's upcoming automatic backup to PC feature excludes Samsung devices

Notably, the information indicates that "Samsung phones aren't supported." This exclusion may stem from Samsung's existing Smart Switch app, which already offers comprehensive backup solutions to its users. However, it is important to note that Smart Switch does not currently support automatic backups, unlike Google's impending feature.

According to the screenshot, activating Google's backup feature will require users to access the Quick Share app on their Windows PC. Both the Android device and the Quick Share app must be logged into the same Google account for the feature to function effectively. Users will be able to choose which photos and videos from their phones they wish to back up.

Since only Samsung devices are specifically stated as unsupported, we can infer that this functionality will be available for all other Android phones.
