A growing number of EU customers are encountering warranty issues with OnePlus and are sharing their experiences on Reddit. Some have escalated the matter by filing complaints with the European Consumer Center (ECC) for deceptive trade practices and breach of warranty terms.
One Reddit user recounted the experience of receiving a pair of OnePlus Buds 2 as a gift with the purchase of the OnePlus 13 nearly two years ago. After the warranty period expired, the buds malfunctioned and were sent back to OnePlus for repairs.

However, OnePlus stated that the Buds 2 are considered a near-end-of-life product, making them ineligible for repair or replacement. Instead, the company provided a €199 voucher for use in their online store. Yet, this presents a challenge.
OnePlus's online platforms across many European markets currently show limited inventory. While they still offer smartphones and tablets, most other products priced around €199 are either out of stock or on sale. Moreover, the system does not permit voucher usage on discounted items, effectively nullifying the value of the voucher.
Notably, this issue does not appear to be isolated. Numerous other EU customers express dissatisfaction with OnePlus’s warranty service, with many receiving vouchers instead of cash refunds. Some are labeling this trend as OnePlus's “Europe exit scam.”
Sadly, OnePlus’s subpar warranty service could indicate broader issues—the company may be reducing its operations in Europe and preparing for a full market exit. The deteriorating warranty support, significant stock issues, and the early designation of products as end-of-life all suggest an impending departure.
Furthermore, developments such as the OxygenOS/Realme UI merger with ColorOS, OnePlus's shift towards promoting Oppo devices, and the upcoming resignation of the Indian CEO amid rumors of potential market closure in India all contribute to this narrative. These factors hint at an unsettling reality for OnePlus enthusiasts.
It is disappointing to witness the decline of OnePlus, a brand that once thrived in the European market. Previously, customers enjoyed excellent after-sales service, making the current state of warranty support deeply troubling.
