Valve Raises Steam Deck Prices by Up to 46%: What You Need to Know

Valve has announced a significant price increase for its popular handheld gaming device, the Steam Deck. Effective immediately, prices for the device in the U.S. have risen by as much as 46%.

The 512GB OLED model's price has surged from $549 to $789, marking a nearly 44% increase. Additionally, the 1TB OLED model now costs a staggering $949, surpassing even the $899 price tag of the 2TB PlayStation 5 Pro.

Valve's Price Hike on Steam Deck

Consumers are acutely aware of current memory pricing trends; however, the pricing of a four-year-old handheld with outdated hardware raises concerns. Expecting users to pay over $780 for a device that primarily excels at casual gaming seems unreasonable.

Last year, Valve introduced an equivalent home console, the Steam Machine, but this device has yet to be released due to ongoing pricing issues. Given the current price point of the Steam Deck, it may be best for the Steam Machine to remain undisclosed.
