Earlier this year, rumors suggested that Oppo and Huawei were planning to introduce a square selfie sensor in their upcoming flagship models. Recently, additional leaks indicated that Oppo is set to integrate a 100MP sensor. Furthermore, new information hints that the Honor Magic9 series might also include a square selfie camera.
According to the tipster Digital Chat Station, the forthcoming Oppo Find X10 series will showcase a Samsung-developed 100MP selfie camera sensor featuring a 1:1 square format. This sensor is reportedly sized at 1/2.5 inches.

This series is said to be evaluated with the OVA0B sensor, measuring 1/1.8 inches, which is expected to be adapted to a 1:1 square format.
DCS further confirmed earlier reports about the Magic9's rear camera configuration. The lineup is anticipated to feature a 200MP primary camera paired with a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. Additionally, Honor is testing various 200MP sensors for the main camera, including the 1/1.28-inch OV52A and OV52B, as well as the larger 1/1.12-inch OVB0D sensor.

The larger 1:1 sensor format also provides a broader field of view, making it easier to include more people or background elements in the frame.
