BOE Seeks to Supply Lower-Priced OLED Panels for Samsung's Galaxy S27 Series

A recent report from Korea indicates that BOE is attempting to join Samsung's supply chain as a secondary display supplier for the upcoming Galaxy S27 series. According to details shared by ZDNET Korea, BOE has made a formal proposal to Samsung, highlighting the potential impacts of such an arrangement.

Samsung's Mobile eXperience (MX) division has solicited information from BOE regarding the development of OLED panels for the Galaxy S27 and has been reviewing sample units for over a month. Insider sources suggest that BOE is poised to fulfill the technical requirements needed for the Galaxy S27's OLED panels without encountering major challenges.

BOE is trying to lure Samsung with lower-priced Galaxy S27 series OLED panels

Crucially, BOE has reportedly offered its OLED panels at a price that is $5 lower per unit than those provided by Samsung Display. While this pricing could represent a financial advantage for Samsung MX, there are concerns that transitioning to BOE panels might disrupt Samsung Electronics’ OLED ecosystem, potentially impacting the profitability of its display division and associated suppliers.

It is worth noting that Samsung has begun sourcing OLED panels for its Galaxy A57 from external suppliers like TCL CSOT, but the Galaxy S series has historically relied solely on Samsung's in-house panels.
