Google is expected to unveil Android 17 or highlight some of its key features during the Android Show I/O Edition later today. However, Samsung has preemptively announced its Android 17-based One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S26 series.
The One UI 9 beta program will be available to Galaxy S26 users in select markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S., starting this week. Interested users can apply to join the beta program through the Samsung Members app.

The accompanying press release outlines the upcoming changes that the new firmware update will bring. Samsung Contacts will now incorporate the Creative Studio AI art tool, enabling users to create custom profile cards directly within the app.
The Quick Panel features enhanced controls, including independent toggles for screen brightness, sound, and media playback.
In terms of accessibility, Samsung is introducing a combined TalkBack voice guidance package that was previously offered separately by Google and Samsung. The Text Spotlight feature will now function in floating windows for improved reading, and adjustable Mouse Key speed will also be introduced. Additionally, Samsung Notes will feature new pen line styles and decorative tapes for enhanced personalization.
Security is another focus, as Samsung will automatically flag suspicious app activity when it detects high-risk applications. This feature will prevent the execution and installation of such files and will recommend appropriate measures to ensure device safety.
