Great News for Gmail Users!
In a significant update, Google has announced that users can now change their Gmail address, specifically the part that comes before @gmail.com. This feature is currently being introduced in the United States, with expectations for a global rollout in the near future.
To guide users through this process, Google has shared an informative video, which is embedded below. The steps are straightforward:
- Navigate to your Google Account settings.
- Select Personal info.
- Click on Email, followed by Google Account email.
- Look for a prominent blue button labeled Change Google Account email.
- Choose your new email address.
It's worth noting that the original email address will still be linked to your account as an alternate address, allowing those who might still email you at that address to reach you without issue. However, there is a crucial limitation to keep in mind: you can only update your email address once every 12 months. Therefore, choose wisely, as it won’t be easy to change it again soon!
As this change is rolling out across accounts, it may take some time to appear for all users. If you’re located in the US and currently don’t see the option, be sure to check back in a few days.
