In a significant advancement for health tracking, Samsung has rolled out the ability to measure blood pressure for Galaxy Watch users in the United States. This feature is now accessible on the Galaxy Watch4 and subsequent models that operate on Wear OS 4 or later. The blood pressure monitoring is facilitated through the Samsung Health Monitor app.
To ensure the readings are accurate, users are required to calibrate their watch using an upper arm cuff every 28 days. The Galaxy Watches not only track systolic and diastolic blood pressure but also monitor heart rate using advanced heart rate sensors.
Looking ahead, Samsung has announced that it will introduce passive monitoring capabilities later this year, which will allow users to view their blood pressure trends over time. This blood pressure feature adds to the expanding suite of health and wellness tools offered by Galaxy Watches, which also includes the FDA-authorized Sleep Apnea feature, marking a key innovation in wearable health technology.
