Samsung's Innovative Smart Browsing Feature Designed to Save You Money
Samsung is taking a step forward in enhancing user experience through its browser with a newly discovered feature that aims to save shoppers money online. As the competition in the web browsing arena intensifies, Samsung is ready to take on popular choices like Google Chrome by delivering functionalities that cater specifically to savvy online shoppers.
Samsung Browser may not have the highest market share among web-browsing platforms, but its forthcoming feature could change that. Insights from the recently leaked One UI 9 build revealed a fascinating new addition in the Samsung Browser v30.0.0.39—a Smart Browsing feature. This innovative tool is set to provide users with valuable shopping capabilities right within the browser.
This new Smart Browsing feature aims to enhance the online shopping experience by displaying relevant coupons while users explore various retail sites. According to the descriptions within the code, it utilizes visit-related information such as the user’s geographic location and the checkout time to showcase potential discounts.
"Samsung Browser shows relevant coupons when you visit shopping websites using information related to your visit, such as your country (based on device or network information) and the time of your visit. You can manage or turn off Smart shopping at any time in Samsung Browser Settings > Useful features > Turn off. See our Privacy Notice for more details."
Currently, this feature is not available in One UI 8.5, but the leaked information hints at exciting possibilities. Additionally, another piece of code suggests that Samsung is collaborating with select retail and commerce websites to ensure the feature works effectively.
However, it’s important to note that a consent mechanism is also in place. The feature will require access to certain browsing data—including the websites you visit and the items in your shopping basket—to deliver the most relevant discounts. The data access disclaimer outlines the conditions under which this information is gathered and processed.
"Which data is accessed: We will access the website you are visiting, the contents of your basket, and your IP address to find available coupons. We obtain this information via tracking technologies, which are small text files placed on your device to enable us to read this information from your device and deliver the coupons to you. We will only access this information when you are visiting certain retail and commerce websites which are part of this service."
The initial rollout of this feature will be opt-in and presently disabled by default. According to reports, it can be activated within the One UI settings, although it currently yields no tangible results while browsing, indicating that it's still in its early development stage.
Could This Be a Game Changer for Online Shopping?
With Google Chrome possessing a commanding lead in the mobile browsing sector, Samsung's new Smart Browsing feature could strategically enhance its browser's appeal to users. Moreover, with future integrations of Galaxy AI, the system might evolve to allow users to find products at the best prices effortlessly, possibly with a simple voice command.
