Introducing the vivo V70: Flat 6.59” Display, Robust Aluminum Frame, and 6,500mAh Battery

Source: Date:

The new vivo V70 retains many of the standout features from the V60, while also introducing several enhancements. Here’s a look at what’s new and what remains unchanged.

The V70 now boasts a flat 6.59” OLED display (1,260 x 2,750px), replacing the quad-curved 6.77” panel found in its predecessor. The display is brighter, achieving a peak global brightness of 1,800 nits and peak local brightness of 5,000 nits, compared to the V60's 1,500 nits global brightness. The 10-bit panel maintains the 120Hz refresh rate seen in the previous model.

A significant upgrade is the transition to an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which provides faster, more reliable, and secure functionality than the older optical alternative.

The reduced screen size makes the phone narrower, measuring 74.3mm in width compared to 77.0mm for the V60. It's also slightly slimmer at 7.4mm/7.6mm (depending on the color) versus 7.5mm/7.8mm and lighter, weighing 187g/194g compared to 192g/201g.

Despite its slimmer profile, the V70 maintains, if not exceeds, the durability of the V60. It is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance, and has passed drop tests from a height of 1.8m. The display is safeguarded by Schott Xensation Core glass.

This new model replaces the previous plastic chassis with a robust 6-series aluminum alloy frame, which has undergone multiple polishing processes to achieve its refined appearance.

The V70 features vivo’s semi-solid battery technology, preserving its 6,500mAh capacity from the previous model, capable of sustaining usage for 11 hours of PUBG or 5 hours of 4K video recording at 60fps (which is another upgrade, as we’ll see with the camera enhancements). This battery is operational in extreme temperatures—capable of running Google Maps for 10 hours at 40°C (104°F) in desert conditions, or for 8 hours at -20°C (-4°F) in Arctic temperatures. It supports 90W fast wired charging via vivo’s FlashCharge technology.

Equipped with a 50MP main camera that features optical image stabilization (OIS) utilizing the Sony LYT 700V sensor (1/1.56”), the V70 also includes a 50MP telephoto lens (1/1.95”) and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. As previously mentioned, video recording capabilities have been enhanced to allow 4K recording at 60fps, an upgrade from 30fps on the V60.

The main and telephoto cameras support five popular focal lengths for portraits: 1x/23mm (landscape portraits), 1.5x/35mm (street portraits), 2.2x/50mm (classic portraits), 3.7x/85mm, and 4.3x/100mm (close-up portraits). Additionally, it offers various ZEISS-style bokeh modes.

The phone is available in Authentic Black (the slim version), as well as Canary Yellow, Alpine Gray, and Sandalwood Brown. It launches with Android 16 and OriginOS 6, promising 6 years of OS updates and security patches (the V60 received 6 years of patches and 4 years of OS updates).

No chipset changes have been made; the phone continues to run on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the same as its predecessor. It can be configured with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and offers 256GB or 512GB of storage. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB 2.0.
