Sony entered the open wear stereo (OWS) earbuds market early with its original LinkBuds in 2022, and its latest addition introduces a unique clip-on design. The LinkBuds Clip promise refined audio quality and up to 37 hours of usage with the charging case.
Let’s examine what’s included with the LinkBuds Clip.
They come packaged in a recycled cardboard box typical of recent Sony headphones and earbuds. Inside, you’ll find the charging/carrying case that holds the LinkBuds Clip, along with a set of manuals and a warranty card.
Upon closer inspection, the LinkBuds Clip are entirely plastic, featuring a C-shaped design with a speaker on one end connected to a bean-shaped module designed to fit behind your ear helix.

Designed to accommodate a range of ear shapes, the LinkBuds Clip offer tested comfort for extended use. They are lightweight and typically provide a snug fit without causing discomfort, while the connecting cable between the two halves remains flexible.
This is how the LinkBuds Clip look when worn
In terms of specifications, the LinkBuds Clip feature 10mm drivers and support Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. They are compatible with SBC and AAC codecs and include Sony’s DSEE upscaling algorithm as well as 360 Reality Audio, also known as spatial audio. Additionally, these earbuds support multipoint pairing and offer a fully customizable 10-band equalizer through the Sony Sound Connect app.
Sony LinkBuds Clip
The LinkBuds Clip feature three listening modes: standard, voice boost, and sound leakage reduction. However, they lack wear detection sensors, which means the media playback does not pause automatically when you remove the earbuds—a feature commonly found in many entry-level models, making its absence surprising at this price point.
Battery life is rated at 9 hours with the earbuds alone, extending to 37 hours when using the charging case. The LinkBuds Clip are rated IPX4 for splash resistance; however, the case does not have ingress protection.
