Realme 16 Pro+ Needs a Price Cut to Compete, While 16 Pro Falls Short

Smartphone manufacturers are increasingly struggling to set the right price for their latest devices—a challenge that may worsen as memory shortages impact production.

According to last week’s poll, Realme has misjudged the pricing of both the 16 Pro and 16 Pro+. However, the Pro+ could succeed if offered at a more appealing price point.

While the Realme 16 Pro+ received relatively low scores, many respondents expressed interest in reconsidering the device if its price drops to a more acceptable level. As noted in our review, the Pro+ is a well-built smartphone, but it is priced higher than its competitors, which many believe offer better value.

Interestingly, the 8MP ultra-wide camera drew the most criticism—many believe it is too low-resolution for a phone at this price point, despite its inclusion in the ultra-wide module, which some users consider less significant. On a positive note, no negative comments were made regarding the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor.

Though the Realme 16 Pro is offered at a lower price, it sacrifices some key hardware features, leaving the value proposition unbalanced. Once again, the 8MP ultra-wide camera faced backlash, while the Dimensity 7300 Max chipset went unmentioned.

This feedback indicates that Realme was close to achieving a solid formula, but it may have compromised too much on certain components. While there’s little they can do about the initial pricing strategy, a reduction in the prices of these models could be on the horizon. As it stands, only the Realme 16 Pro+ seems poised to attract any significant attention.
