Google launched Android 16 for its Pixel devices in June last year, marking over seven months since its release. In that time, numerous other Android manufacturers have rolled out updates for their devices, prompting curiosity about the current adoption rates of the newest version of the operating system.
Fortunately, Google has updated its Android version distribution chart, although the data reflects figures from December 1, 2025. Notably, the actual percentage of devices running Android 16 today is likely higher.

Currently, 7.5% of all active Android devices operate on Android 16. While this percentage lags behind Apple's adoption rates for new iOS versions, it’s essential to consider the context: Android’s open ecosystem means that multiple manufacturers produce a vast array of devices, making the update process significantly more complex.

Presently, the most widely adopted Android version is 15, with a share of 19.3%, followed by Android 14 at 17.2% and Android 13 at 13.9%. Android 16 ranks seventh, also trailing behind Android versions 11, 12, and 10.
As time progresses, these percentages are expected to change, with Android 16’s adoption likely increasing.
