Samsung Closes Beta Program for One UI 8.5 Testing in South Korea

After nearly two months of testing the One UI 8.5 beta program specifically for the Galaxy S25 series in South Korea, Samsung has officially closed the registration for new testers. This development indicates a shift in the testing phase as the company prepares for the next steps in its software rollout.

Details on Beta Program Closure

As of now, users in South Korea attempting to register for the One UI 8.5 beta are met with a message announcing that the beta program is no longer accepting new participants. This closure does not signal the end of the beta itself; instead, it restricts access to those who have already joined the program.

While new users can no longer join, the beta program remains active for current users of the Galaxy S25, which is likely to see further developments including a fourth beta version soon.

Anticipated Launch with Galaxy S26 Series

The testing for the One UI 8.5 began on December 8, but an official roadmap has yet to be released by Samsung. It is anticipated that the new software will officially debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, expected to be unveiled next month.

Future Updates and Features

Post-launch, Samsung is anticipated to distribute One UI 8.5 to its earlier supported devices, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. The new update promises features such as a floating tab bar, improved reachability across the interface, and enhanced on-device AI image editing capabilities.

New features also include optimizations for Quick Share and Storage Share, alongside a new QuickStar GoodLock module which allows for greater customization of the Quick Settings toggle.

Refinements Over Major Overhauls

Although One UI 8.5 will not introduce a significant redesign or groundbreaking features, the refinements it will bring should not be underestimated. Subtle quality-of-life improvements and enhanced customization options via the GoodLock module further solidify Samsung's commitment to user experience.

The new Galaxy S26 series is also generating excitement with the possibility of expanded support for Qi2, a refreshed design for the Ultra model, and improvements in charging capabilities. The tech community eagerly awaits Samsung's announcements next month.
