Not long ago, mini smartphones appeared to be fading away; however, they are now thriving, with several manufacturers releasing models across various price ranges. Among them, Oppo has launched a model in its Reno15 series, which emerged as the clear winner in last week’s poll. The question remains: How successful will it be outside of the Reno15 family?
The Oppo Reno15 Pro, known as the Reno15 Pro Mini in India, received approximately a quarter of the votes, indicating that many consumers believe they can find better deals with other compact smartphones. Nevertheless, the yellow section of the pie chart reveals that the Reno15 Pro isn’t losing many voters to its Reno15 siblings.
In contrast, the Oppo Reno15 Pro Max, also referred to as the Reno15 Pro in India, came in second place, but with less than 10% of the votes, it’s more like a “second-to-last loser.” Some potential buyers were unable to participate due to regional availability issues (5.5%), though this is a better outcome than the mini model's 8.1%. So far, there has been no news regarding a wider launch.
The largest slice of the pie is indeed the yellow section, suggesting that voters are more inclined to choose one of the other two Reno15 models over the Max.
The other model is unlikely to be the standard Oppo Reno15, which surprisingly shares the same name in India. Nearly half of the voters indicated they could find better hardware for their money outside the Reno15 series. This sentiment is echoed in the Pro Max poll, but here, it is the most significant finding of the three.
The vanilla model cannot blame regional availability for its dismal 10.2% approval rating. Despite being equally accessible in the same two markets, consumer interest in this phone is notably low.
An analysis of the comments section reveals a lack of enthusiasm for the Oppo Reno15 trio. While naming conventions have sparked some complaints, the primary concern appears to be pricing. Although there are additional issues, the value proposition simply does not resonate with consumers, suggesting that a few months of price reductions might encourage potential buyers to reconsider the Reno15 models.
