New Android Update to Bring Standby Mode Feature to Compete with iPhone

Source: Date:
Android users might soon enjoy a feature previously exclusive to iPhones. Standby Mode on iOS, where the phone acts as a mini smart display while charging sideways, could soon be replicated on Android devices. Google is reportedly working on integrating a similar feature for Android phones, allowing them to display clocks, photos, widgets, and live updates when docked and charging.
Android 16's upcoming update, named QPR1, is rumored to reintroduce lock screen widgets as part of Hub Mode, optimized for phones. The inclusion of a "Standby" button in the power menu suggests that users will be able to activate a screen saver and lock screen widgets simultaneously. This new feature aims to enhance the user experience and compete with the smart tricks offered by iOS.
