Impact of TSMC's Wafer Price Hike on iPhone and Apple Products

Source: Date:

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is increasing the pricing of its wafers by 10 percent, affecting various companies including Apple, TSMC’s biggest customer for iPhone chip manufacturing. This price hike is expected to lead to a rise in the costs of future iPhone models and other Apple products. The company had been considering raising prices for the iPhone 17 lineup, and this decision by TSMC reinforces that possibility.

iPhone 17 models may face criticism for their redesign along with the potential price increase. Apple may attribute the hike to tariffs, but is unlikely to publicly acknowledge this. The impact of TSMC's pricing change could also affect Samsung's Galaxy S26 phones if production issues with its Exynos chips persist.

The iPhone 16 series maintained the same price as the iPhone 15 family.
