The highly anticipated Xiaomi 15 Ultra has officially launched, pushing the boundaries of smartphone technology while maintaining the core excellences of its predecessor. Boasting a refined design, cutting-edge chipset, and enhanced camera capabilities, this flagship device promises to deliver an outstanding user experience.
At the heart of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, available with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Users can choose from varying storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB thanks to the UFS 4.1 technology. This latest chipset not only boosts performance by up to 45% but also reduces power consumption by as much as 52%.
Impressively, the device features a new battery, now containing an industry-leading 10% silicon carbide, with a capacity increase of 17% to 6,000mAh. Meanwhile, global models will offer a 5,410mAh battery. It retains 90W wired and 80W wireless charging support, which were standout features of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra flaunts a stunning 6.73-inch AMOLED display, providing a sharp 3200x1440px resolution and a refresh rate varying from 1-120Hz, topped off with an incredible brightness level reaching up to 3,200 nits.
In terms of aesthetics, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be available in Black, White, and a special Silver Chrome Edition. The Black variant features a textured back for added grip, while the White version showcases an elegant etched surface. All models are designed with a CNC-crafted aluminum frame and Xiaomi's Shield Glass 2.0, promoting impressive drop resistance.
The special Silver Chrome edition combines aerospace-grade glass fiber and PU leather, offering a unique blend of modernity with a professional camera appeal. It measures slightly heavier at 229g as opposed to 226g and is marginally thicker at 9.48mm compared to its counterparts.
Diving into the camera department, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra retains its Leica-tuned quad camera system, significantly enhanced this year. It houses a 1-inch type 50MP Sony LYT-900 main camera with a fixed f/1.63 aperture. The device introduces an impressive 100mm f/2.6 telephoto lens featuring a 200MP Samsung HP9 sensor, a considerable upgrade offering 136% more light-capturing capability compared to its predecessor.
Additionally, the ultrawide lens has transitioned from a 12mm to a 14mm optic, albeit with similar sensor specifications. The front-facing camera maintains a nearly identical 32MP sensor with a 21mm f/2.0 lens, ensuring high-quality selfies.
Capable of capturing 8K video up to 30fps across all four rear cameras, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra also supports up to 4K at 60fps for all cameras, with the main and telephoto lenses offering 4K at an impressive 120fps.
On the software front, the phone runs on Android 15, featuring Xiaomi's HyperOS 2 for an optimized user experience, complete with a revamped lock screen, home screen, and enhanced system applications. Notably, Xiaomi promises four years of Android updates and six years of security patches for the 15 series.
The Chinese launch saw the Xiaomi 15 Ultra priced at CNY 6,499 (€854, £700, INR 78,000, $895) for the 12GB/256GB model, while the 16GB/512GB variant is set at CNY 6,999 (€920, £760, INR 84,000, $960), and the 16GB/1TB model at CNY 7,799 (€1,025, £850, INR 93,600, $1,070). Global availability is expected to follow shortly. An optional Professional Imaging Kit accessory will be available for CNY 999 (€130, £110, INR 12,000, $140).
