Samsung has announced a partnership with Alcedis, aimed at integrating health data from wearable devices into clinical research. Samsung will supply the health data, while Alcedis, a digital-first clinical research organization, will focus on collecting, analyzing, and translating biometric data into meaningful evidence for pharmaceutical and clinical research purposes.

This partnership makes sense as wearable devices are widely adopted and offer a cost-effective means of gathering continuous real-world health data. However, the challenge lies in effectively translating this wearable data into clinically relevant insights—an area where Alcedis excels.
The collaboration will involve the collection of clinically validated measurements using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and electrodermal activity (EDA) techniques. Additionally, the devices will gather data related to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and atrial fibrillation (AFib).
