AT&T Experiences Pre-Dawn Service Disruption Affecting Numerous Subscribers
Early Tuesday morning, AT&T users across several states faced a significant service outage that left many without internet and mobile connectivity. This disruption began around 12:53 am ET and reached its peak at 1:23 am ET, resulting in an unprecedented surge of complaints. AT&T subscribers quickly took to platforms like Ookla's Downdetector to express their frustrations as service issues became apparent outside of typical hotspots like the Northeast and California.
Details of the Outage
Complaints regarding service interruptions were primarily noted from cities including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, Wichita, Atlanta, and Allen. A staggering 57% of users reported problems with their AT&T-powered Wi-Fi, while 28% experienced broadband internet outages and 15% were unable to access a mobile signal. Many affected users shared their experiences on Downdetector during the outage.
One frustrated subscriber, David Springs, recounted his experience stating, "Fiber down in Wichita KS. Support hold time between 2 hours 56 minutes and 3 hours 53 minutes. Might as well not exist. ATT phone app says no outage, which is clearly BS." Another user, known as Junor, shared a gaming-related grievance, lamenting, "was one match away from grandchamp on rocket league smh ofc my rankup it goes down."
Restoration of Services
Following the outage, AT&T has reportedly resolved the issue, and services have been restored in the affected regions. Users were quick to fill out a poll to share their experiences:
Were you affected by this morning's AT&T outage?
In addition, another AT&T subscriber named Lemon mentioned, "wifi stopped working smh, got a message from them that they're having an outage." StatusGator reported interruptions around Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri over the previous 24 hours. However, as of now, there have been no new complaints, suggesting that the cause of the outage was likely a minor issue that was quickly resolved. Notably, other major carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile were unaffected, indicating that this was an isolated incident for AT&T.
