AT&T Shifts Headquarters to New Plano Campus
In a significant move for its corporate future, AT&T has announced plans to relocate its global headquarters from Dallas to a modern campus in Plano, Texas. This transition marks a major milestone for the telecom giant as it aims to create a more functional and employee-centric workplace.
AT&T is relocating its headquarters from the iconic skyscraper in Downtown Dallas, which has housed the company since 2008, to a newly constructed 54-acre campus at 5400 Legacy Drive in Plano. This consolidation integrates three separate offices in Dallas, Plano, and Irving into one streamlined location.
New Campus Designed with Employees in Mind
In a memo to staff, CEO John Stankey emphasized the need for a contemporary workplace that focuses on employee well-being, stating, "This investment aims to put the employee experience at the center of our workspace." The new headquarters will be purposefully designed to foster a professional environment while addressing existing workspace and parking challenges, particularly after the company mandated a return to in-office work.
The decision to relocate comes as AT&T plans to address operational inefficiencies while adapting to evolving business requirements. "We will continue to evaluate and invest in our workspaces around the country as our business needs develop," Stankey remarked, indicating a commitment to ongoing improvements. Further details concerning the move are expected to be released in the spring of this year.
AT&T anticipates that the new headquarters will be partially occupied by the latter half of 2028. Currently, the corporation operates from the Whitacre Tower at 208 S. Akard St. in Dallas, with a lease extending through December 31, 2031. The new facility will be approximately a 30-minute drive north from the existing headquarters.
