Samsung introduced its latest Galaxy Book6 series of laptops at CES, powered by the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, the first to utilize Intel's 18A node, a 1.8nm class technology. These innovative processors, combined with an enhanced cooling system, enable the 2026 laptops to operate more efficiently and remain cooler for longer periods.

There are three models in the series: the base model, Pro, and Ultra. The Ultra is exclusively available in a 16” size, while the Pro and base models offer options for both 14” and 16” displays.

The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro and Galaxy Book6 Ultra are equipped with Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreens that can dynamically adjust refresh rates between 30Hz and 120Hz to optimize viewing based on content type, whether for animation, video, or gaming.

The display features Gorilla Glass with DXC, providing both drop and scratch resistance along with an anti-reflective coating that reduces surface reflections by up to 75%. It boasts a True Bright 1300 certification and achieves True Black levels as low as 0.0005 nits. The screen delivers brightness levels of up to 500 nits for SDR content, with peak brightness reaching up to 1,000 nits for HDR.

The Intel Core Ultra 3 series processors incorporate up to 16 cores (P and E cores) and promise an impressive 60% increase in CPU performance over their predecessors, alongside a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with 50 TOPS capability.

The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Ultra can be configured with either a Core Ultra X9, X7, or X5 processor. Although it features capable Intel Arc GPUs that are 70% faster than previous generations, an Nvidia GPU option is also available—specifically the GeForce RTX 5060 or 5070, both with 8GB of GDDR7 memory.

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro

The iGPU variant is offered with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while Nvidia GPU models provide configurations of either 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB. Storage options include 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB PCIe SSDs, along with an empty expansion slot.

The Galaxy Book6 Pro features an Intel Core Ultra X7, 7, or 5 processor and can be outfitted with 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5X RAM. The pre-installed PCIe SSD options are 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB, and the 16” model also offers an additional expansion slot.

The base model, Samsung Galaxy Book6, provides a more straightforward configuration with an IPS LCD display (350 nits) offered in both 14” and 16” sizes. This model can be equipped with either a Core Ultra 7 or 5 processor (a previous generation) and features 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It includes PCIe SSD storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB, and supports expansion slots in both sizes (note that the 14” model can only accommodate a smaller 2230 SSD).

The Pro and Ultra models are designed for longevity, promising up to 30 hours of video playback on a single charge—an increase of five hours compared to previous models. Furthermore, the Ultra variant supports rapid charging, achieving 63% capacity in just 30 minutes.

The Galaxy Book6 Ultra is powered by an 80.20Wh battery that supports 100W charging (up to 140W for those equipped with an Nvidia GPU). The Pro model contains a 67.18Wh battery for the 14” variant and 78.07Wh for the 16” version, both of which support 65W charging via USB-C. The base model features a smaller 61.20Wh battery with 45W charging capability.

Samsung has engineered these laptops to be slim and lightweight, with the Pro model being the lightest. The 14” Pro measures 11.6mm in thickness and weighs approximately 1.24kg, while the 16” variant is 11.9mm thick and weighs 1.59kg. The Ultra model has a thickness of 15.4mm and weighs 1.79kg (or 1.89kg if equipped with an Nvidia GPU). The base model measures 14.9mm and weighs 1.48kg for the 14” size and 1.75kg for the 16” size. Note that an optional touchscreen adds to the thickness (16.8mm) and weight (1.85kg).

The new 18A Intel silicon in the Pro and Ultra laptops is paired with a sophisticated cooling system. Both models include vapor chambers (the Ultra has a larger chamber) with attached fins that enhance cooling efficiency by 35% compared to previous Galaxy Book generations. Additionally, the re-engineered fan features a larger inlet grill to improve airflow, successfully lowering device temperature while also reducing noise levels.

The Galaxy Book6 Ultra is distinguished by its advanced audio setup, featuring six speakers—two up-firing tweeters and four force-canceling woofers arranged back-to-back to minimize vibrations and distortion. It also supports Dolby Atmos. The 16” Pro variant has a similar audio system but includes only two woofers, while the 14” model is equipped with a more basic two-speaker setup.

For connectivity, both the Pro and Ultra models offer two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A port, an HDMI 2.1 port (supporting 8K@60fps and 5K@120fps), a headphone/microphone combo jack, and an SD card reader. Wireless connectivity is facilitated through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be 2x2) and Bluetooth 5.4.

The base Galaxy Book6 includes two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a headphone/microphone jack, and even an Ethernet port. The card slot supports the smaller microSD standard. Although it lacks Wi-Fi 7, it does support Wi-Fi 6E (ax 2x2) and Bluetooth 5.4.

Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Book6 series in selected markets later this month, with pricing details to be announced at that time. Enterprise Edition models will be available in certain markets starting in April.
