HMD Pearl Phone Appears on Geekbench, Possibly the Pulse 2 Pro with Unisoc T7250 Chipset

Source: Date:

An unannounced HMD smartphone, codenamed "Pearl," has been spotted on Geekbench. The device was tested running Android 15 and equipped with a Unisoc chipset and 4GB of RAM.

The chipset in question appears to be the Unisoc T7250. Although the motherboard listed as "ums9230_6h10" typically corresponds to the T606, T615, or T616 chipsets, the CPU clock speeds—2 cores at 1.82GHz and 6 cores at 1.61GHz—align with the T7250 rather than the T6xx series, which uniformly run at 1.6GHz. Both the T606 and T7250 are paired with the Mali-G57 GPU.

Geekbench 6.2.2 Results: HMD Pearl Possibly the Pulse 2 Pro

The existing HMD Pulse models use the Unisoc T606 chip, with benchmark scores around 392 (single-core) and 1,385 (multi-core). The T7250’s higher clock speeds offer a modest performance boost over the T606.

This is noteworthy given the recent leak regarding the HMD Pulse 2 Pro, which is rumored to feature the T615 chipset and 6GB of RAM. Since the original Pulse was available with 4GB and 6GB RAM options, the variation is unsurprising, but the leak may have confused the T615 with the T7250.

The RAM capacity is particularly relevant to software support. Android 16 reportedly requires a minimum of 6GB RAM to run the full edition; devices with 4GB are expected to transition to Android 16 Go Edition when upgrading from Android 15, even if running the full version of Android 15. However, recent increases in RAM prices could prompt a resurgence of 4GB devices, potentially influencing Google to reconsider its Android 16 RAM requirements.

HMD Pulse 2 Pro Details

The Pulse 2 Pro is said to launch with Android 15 pre-installed, consistent with the Geekbench findings for the Pearl device. This supports the theory that Pearl and the Pulse 2 Pro are the same model. The presence of both 4GB and 6GB variants raises questions about future Android 16 updates and their compatibility.
