The wide-screen smartphone trend appears to be gaining serious momentum in China. Ever since Huawei introduced the Pura X View earlier this year, brands like Oppo, Honor, and most recently Xiaomi have all been linked to similar devices. Now, fresh rumors indicate that vivo is preparing to throw its hat into the ring as well.

Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station reports that vivo is working on its first wide-screen candybar-style handset, with a launch window currently set for 2027.

The same source adds that the upcoming vivo device is expected to carry a screen measuring less than 6.5 inches diagonally. No further specifications have surfaced at this point.

To put that into perspective, the Huawei Pura X View comes with a 6.39-inch panel, while Oppo's rumored Reno X wide-screen phone is believed to feature a 6.35-inch display. Based on these figures, it seems likely that vivo will settle on a comparable screen size. With the anticipated launch still some time away, future leaks should paint a clearer picture of what vivo has in store for this new form factor.
