Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra may go all-Snapdragon in Korea, cost cuts said to outweigh Exynos 2700's edge

Samsung's chipset strategy for its next-generation flagships has been anything but settled, and a fresh leak has added yet another twist to the story. Despite reports that the company's in-house Exynos 2700 has been outperforming Qualcomm's offering in internal testing, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra may still ship with Snapdragon silicon — even in Samsung's home market of South Korea.

The claim comes from tipster yeux1122, who suggests that raw performance isn't the deciding factor here. Instead, Samsung is reportedly prioritizing cost reduction as it moves through the design and component selection phase, and sticking with Snapdragon for its two premium models apparently makes more financial sense.

Should this plan hold, the Galaxy S27 Ultra would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, while the slightly more affordable Galaxy S27 Pro would run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

It's worth noting how much the narrative has shifted. Earlier leaks claimed Samsung was preparing to equip the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Pro with the Exynos 2700 in South Korea and Europe. Later reports, however, pointed to the company walking back that idea — at least for the Ultra — and now the Pro may follow suit.

As things stand, the latest information suggests both the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra will rely on Snapdragon chips even in South Korea. The standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ are still expected to feature the Exynos 2700 across most markets, though North American units will likely continue using Snapdragon variants.

Beyond chipsets, the Galaxy S27 lineup is rumored to launch in early 2027, bringing refreshed hardware, an improved Privacy Display exclusive to the Pro and Ultra, and a reworked rear camera design on the two high-end models.
