Huawei appears to be gearing up to launch a fresh sub-brand, and new details about its identity and debut devices have surfaced. While earlier reports pointed to a name translating to "Starlight" or "Starburst," insiders now claim the brand will officially go by Osta in English.
The story began last month when reports emerged of a Huawei sub-brand called Xingmang. A tipster later revealed that the first device under this brand would feature a wide-screen candybar design, though they cautioned that the translated name might not reflect the final branding. That warning now seems justified, as two trusted leakers report that Osta is the official English name — and it will even appear on the retail packaging.

The brand is expected to make its entrance with two models: the Osta O1 and the Osta O1 Pro. According to the leaks, both devices will target the flagship segment. The standard O1 is rumored to sport a display with curves on all four edges, complemented by a prominent circular camera module on the rear.
Meanwhile, the O1 Pro takes a different approach with its wide-screen design, featuring slim bezels on every side and a horizontal camera bar across the back. It's said to pack a 6.39-inch 1.5K LTPS flat display with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio — a design language reminiscent of the Pura X View.
On the memory front, the O1 Pro will allegedly be offered in four variants: 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. Pricing and specifications are expected to match Huawei's flagship tier, possibly influenced by the rising cost of memory components. This marks a notable shift from earlier speculation that suggested the sub-brand would focus on mid-range devices powered by Kirin 8-series chips.
For those wondering whether wide-screen phones will become exclusive to Osta, one tipster clarified that Huawei's main lineup will continue to offer the form factor as well.
