Galaxy Fit4 Could Be Samsung's First Fitness Band with NFC Payment Support

Source: Date:

Samsung's Galaxy Fit3 made its debut in February 2024, and anticipation is already building for what comes next. The Galaxy Fit4 is rumored to launch later this year, and while Samsung has yet to make anything official, a freshly published listing on the Galaxy Store may have accidentally revealed one of the tracker's most exciting upgrades yet: NFC support.

The Galaxy Fit4 Manager app recently appeared on the Galaxy Store, and eagle-eyed observers noticed something interesting in the accompanying screenshots. One image shows a "Wallet" option tucked away in the app's menu, partially hidden behind the bottom navigation bar. Its presence strongly suggests that Galaxy Fit4 owners could make contactless payments using credit and debit cards saved in Samsung Wallet — a feature that would demand NFC hardware inside the band. Should this prove accurate, the Fit4 would become the first device in the Fit lineup to carry an NFC chip.

There is reason for caution, though. The Galaxy Fit4's FCC certification makes no reference to NFC whatsoever, listing only Bluetooth connectivity. Until additional evidence surfaces, the payment functionality remains unconfirmed.

Beyond the Wallet hint, the app listing's screenshots point to several other capabilities. The Galaxy Fit4 appears to support built-in applications, tiles for quick access to information, and customizable watch faces. A speaker also seems to be part of the package.

One detail raising eyebrows involves battery life. A pair of screenshots display the Fit4 at a full 100% charge with an estimated 4 days and 3 hours of remaining usage. That figure would mark a steep decline from the Galaxy Fit3's advertised 13-day battery life, so fingers are crossed that it's merely placeholder text rather than a genuine specification.
