Motorola Signature 27 Goes Official: Massive 7,000 mAh Battery Meets a World-First Action Sensor

Source: Date:

After being first unveiled back in September, the Motorola Signature 27 has spent the past few weeks building hype through teasers — including the confirmation of Bang & Olufsen-tuned audio and a hands-on promotional video. Now the wait is over: Motorola's follow-up to the original Signature has been fully detailed, and its headline feature is a huge 7,000 mAh battery — a 35% jump in capacity over its predecessor.

Up front, the Signature 27 sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K display dubbed "Extreme AMOLED Duo," built on tandem OLED technology with dual emissive layers. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate and an eye-popping 12,000 nits of peak brightness (measured at 1% average pixel level). According to Motorola, the new panel consumes up to 34% less power and delivers up to 121% greater longevity compared to the conventional AMOLED used on the first Signature.

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Keeping thermals in check is Motorola's ArcticMesh cooling solution, which combines a micro-diamond-infused thermal gel with an 8,384 mm² vapor chamber — 40% bigger than the one found in the previous model.

The camera department is equally impressive. The rear setup consists of a 50MP main shooter featuring Sony's Lytia 910 sensor with LOFIC technology, an f/1.6 aperture, and optical image stabilization; a 200MP periscope telephoto offering 3x optical zoom and up to 100x "Super Zoom Pro"; and a 50MP ultrawide with autofocus covering a 122-degree field of view.

Perhaps the most unusual addition is the industry's first dedicated EVS (Event Vision Sensor) action sensor on a smartphone. Operating independently from the main cameras, it detects changes in light intensity at the pixel level and powers the Action Shot mode, allowing the phone to freeze extremely fast-moving subjects. Video capabilities include 8K recording at 30fps and 4K at up to 120fps with Dolby Vision support, while the 50MP front-facing camera brings autofocus and 4K video capture.

The 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon cell supports 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, along with 5W reverse wireless and 4.5W reverse wired options. All of this comes in a body measuring 162.01x77.04x7.99mm and weighing 227g — a noticeable step up in thickness and heft compared to the slim 7mm, 186g original Signature.

Durability hasn't been overlooked: the phone features an aluminum frame, a ceramic-and-glass construction protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, and MIL-STD-810H certification. Rounding out the package are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a six-antenna layout with Wi-Fi 8 connectivity, and Android 17 out of the box, backed by a commitment to seven major OS upgrades. The device is also primed for Google's Gemini Intelligence features as they become available over the coming months, and it ships with Motorola's own Qira assistant pre-installed.

The Motorola Signature 27 launches on November 16 across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Two Pantone colorways will be offered: Coal Smoke with a tactical weave texture, and Capulet Olive with a textile-inspired finish. The recommended retail price stands at $1,599 or €1,899, though select retailers and partners in certain markets will offer it at a reduced €1,399. Stay tuned for further updates.
