Apple Smashes Records in September Quarter as iPhone Surges and Services Hit New Peak

Source: Date:

Apple has posted yet another blockbuster quarter, reporting an all-time high revenue of $114.5 billion for the three-month period ending in September — the company's fiscal fourth quarter. Gross margin landed at an impressive 47.9%, while revenue climbed 12% compared to the same period last year. Earnings per share jumped 14% to $2.10, with tariff refunds contributing an extra $0.05 per share and adding a full percentage point to the gross margin.

Zooming out to the full fiscal 2026 (the twelve months ending in September), Apple achieved a record-shattering $479 billion in total revenue, accompanied by double-digit earnings-per-share growth.

The iPhone continues to be the engine driving Apple's success. Smartphone revenue reached $57.6 billion during the September quarter, a significant increase over the $49.0 billion recorded in the same quarter a year earlier. Across the entire fiscal year, iPhone sales totaled $254.1 billion, compared to $209.6 billion the previous year.

CEO John Ternus highlighted that Services set a new all-time record, generating $31.6 billion in the quarter — up from $28.8 billion a year ago. On an annual basis, Services brought in $123.3 billion, rising from $109.2 billion.

In a notable shift, the Mac lineup has climbed into the position of Apple's third-largest segment, posting $10.8 billion in September-quarter sales versus $8.7 billion in the year-ago period. This pushed it ahead of Wearables, Home and Accessories, which slipped from $9.0 billion down to $8.3 billion. Macs also overtook that category in full-year figures. The iPad, meanwhile, saw its revenue dip from $6.9 billion to $6.2 billion for the quarter.

Apple recently unveiled a wave of new hardware — new MacBooks, headlined by the company's first touch-enabled MacBook, an OLED-packing iPad mini, and a broadened smart home ecosystem featuring a smart display, cameras, thermostats and locks, smart speakers, plus a premium new Apple TV streamer. The headline act, of course, was the iPhone Duo, which started shipping in late October. The impact of these launches will become clearer when the next earnings report arrives.

Geographically, the Americas continued to lead as Apple's biggest market, accounting for $48.7 billion in net sales during the quarter. Europe came next at $32 billion, with Greater China contributing $17.5 billion.

We also just introduced a whole new generation of hardware for the home and brought Touch to Mac for the first time. Together with the all-new Siri AI, it's an incredible lineup to carry us into the holiday season."
